The Roaring River State Park to Highway 86 section of Roaring River in Barry County is 5.8 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. This is the only paddling stretch along Roaring River. The average Missouri whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in
advance you're all set. The nature scenery of Missouri and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other
good places for that around here. The campgrounds here at Roaring River are pretty good. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Roaring River through the summertime are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Roaring River. Pine Hollow is near Roaring River and is
unquestionably a good place to check out. A large amount of precipitation falls at Roaring River; the month with most of the rain is June, and the driest month of the year is January.
