The Highway CC to Current River section of Sinking Creek in Shannon County is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I section by American Whitewater. rafting and kayaking here in Missouri are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The Highway CC to Current River
| section is the only paddling section along Sinking Creek. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: A large amount of rainfall falls at Sinking Creek; the wettest month of the year is regularly September, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is May. High temperatures at Sinking Creek all through the summertime are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. | |
