This section of Sinking Creek is 6.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. The wonderful Shannon County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The campgrounds here at Sinking Creek are pretty good. This is the only paddling stretch along Sinking Creek.
Briefly about the general area: Sinking Creek frequently gets a good deal of rainfall; the wettest month
of the year is generally September, that's the one that rains the most while May is typically the driest month. For the duration of the summertime highs here at Sinking Creek get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 70's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 80's with temperatures at Sinking Creek dipping down into the 70's during winter nights.
