If you're coming from Farmington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The scenic beauty of St. Francois Madison County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Highway H to Highway 72 stretch is just one of them. This stretch of St. Francis River in St. Francois Madison County is 10.7 miles long and
is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. The Ozarks scenery is wonderful. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Hollow is in the neighborhood of St. Francis River and is a nice place, and you can have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Silver Mine Trail. From a precipitation point of view St. Francis River is a rather common place; of all the months in a year March is the one with the
most rain; January meanwhile is the driest month. Having a brilliant time in the Ozarks is uncomplicated. Summer at St. Francis River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the nighttime is a bit colder of course, regularly in the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at St. Francis River plunge into the 20's.
