The Highway 72 to Millstream Gardens stretch of St. Francis River in Missouri is 3.2 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. The beautiful scenery of Madison County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. The Highway 72 to Millstream Gardens section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area
has a large number of paddling spots. The wild scenery of the Ozarks is great. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come.
Briefly about the general area: Tiemann Shut-in is a great spot to take a look at next to St. Francis River,
and don't leave St. Francis River without first going for a hike along the Silver Mine Trail. From a precipitation point of view St. Francis River is a rather typical place; March is when you get the most rain here while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Ozarks. During the warmest time of the year, highs generally are in the 80's at St. Francis River. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at St. Francis River.
