The Millstream Gardens to Silver Mines section of St. Francis River in Missouri is 2.3 miles long and has been determined by
American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. The starting point is not too far from Farmington, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book
a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Millstream Gardens to Silver Mines section is one of many paddling sections in this river system.
Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The natural beauty of Missouri and the water flowing gracefully down St. Francis River beats anything. When you're paddling down a Ozarks river like this one you always
get great scenery along the way too.
Briefly about the general area: A good location close to St. Francis River is Mud Creek Shut-in, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Silver Mine Trail. A typical amount of precipitation falls here at St.
Francis River; throughout the month of March you get the most rain around here while January is typically the driest month. For the period of the summertime months at St. Francis River temperatures are regularly in the 80's. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's. Highs throughout
the wintertime are typically in the 40's; nighttime lows at St. Francis River through the wintertime commonly plunge into the 20's. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Ozarks.
