The Silver Mines Recreation Area to Highway 67 section of St. Francis River in Madison Wayne County is 55.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I section. The put-in is not too far from Farmington, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Madison Wayne County     and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Silver Mines Recreation Area to Highway 67 section is just one of them. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. A section like this is is of course not run in a single day, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Whitewater paddling here in the Ozarks is a great experience. Briefly about the general area: Nearby Huzzah Canyon is a great location to go if you're at St. Francis River, and a trip to Stillhouse   Spring will fill your soul with pleasant feelings. During the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's while St. Francis River night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 20's.
