The Silver Mines Recreation Area to Highway 67 section of St. Francis River in Madison Wayne County is 55.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Not too many hotels nearby,
you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The scenic beauty of Missouri and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there
are lots of good rivers for that around here. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The campgrounds here at St. Francis River are pretty good. The beautiful Ozarks scenery is an added bonus. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more.

doubt a brilliant spot to check out, and a short trip to Stillhouse Spring is always worthwhile. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to St. Francis River. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's
while the cold winter nights at St. Francis River are in the 20's. St. Francis River gets a typical amount of rain; March is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is January. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the Ozarks will keep you coming back persistently.
