The Taum Sauk Mountain to Little Taum Sauk Creek stretch of Taum Sauk Creek in Missouri is 7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The river winds through the Ozarks and you get great scenery. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of     people. This is the only paddling section along Taum Sauk Creek. The average Missouri whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places.
