The average Missouri whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Farmington, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section of Turkey Creek in Missouri is 2.6 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in
advance you're all set. This is the only paddling stretch along Turkey Creek. The nature scenery of Missouri and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The wild scenery of the Ozarks is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting
and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: Be careful coming to the Ozarks, you might not ever want to go home again. Turkey Creek gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; the month of March is the wettest with most of the rain while
January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Turkey Creek is right by the Silver Mine Trail, and Mud Creek Shut-in is definitely a wonderful spot to have a look at. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Turkey Creek get into the 80's. When the
