Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. The beautiful Crazy Mountains scenery is an added bonus. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.     This section of Big Timber Creek in Sweet Grass County is 1 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is an extremely short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Big Timber Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Close to Half Moon Campground stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warm months highs here at Big Timber Creek reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with   winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Big Timber Creek. Around Big Timber Creek you don’t get a lot of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is February. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Crazy Mountains.
