The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Sweet Grass County and the water flowing gracefully down Big Timber Creek make the trip here worthwhile. This is a very short section so better bring some good walking shoes. There aren’t     any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The Close to Half Moon Campground section is the only paddling section along Big Timber Creek. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The Crazy Mountains scenery is wonderful. Briefly about the general area: A short visit to Thunder Rapids is always worthwhile; a trip to Big Timber Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Upper Big Timber Falls. Summertime at Big Timber Creek comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows descend   down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are commonly in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Big Timber Creek. Big Timber Creek gets very little rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May; the driest month is February.
