If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The wonderful Sweet Grass County scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area     has a pretty small number of paddling spots. Big Timber Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Close to Half Moon Campground section is the only one. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. Whitewater paddling here in the Crazy Mountains is a great experience. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: At Big Timber Creek you don’t see much precipitation; of all the months in a year May is the one with the most rain while February is generally the driest month. You'll beyond doubt wish for   more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Crazy Mountains. A short tour to Thunder Rapids is always worthwhile, and a tour to Big Timber Creek wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Upper Big Timber Falls. Summer at Big Timber Creek comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Big Timber Creek tend to be in the 10's.
