  The natural beauty of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. The Close to Half Moon Campground section of Big Timber Creek in Montana is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. The starting point is not too far from Bozeman, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is an extremely short section so no need to bring snacks. You might be into whitewater
    rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. Whitewater paddling here in the Crazy Mountains is a great experience. This river system has a few good paddling sections and
the Close to Half Moon Campground section is one of them. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have  
to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

Briefly about the general area:
Thunder Rapids is always fun to check out; Upper Big Timber Falls is a gorgeous spot to stop by while you're at Big Timber Creek. Yep, outdoors entertaining stuff truly is plentiful here in the Crazy Mountains. Throughout the warm months, highs typically are in the 70's at Big Timber Creek. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. All through the winter the highs are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Big Timber Creek dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
