This section of Blackfoot River is 40 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful scenery of Missoula County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you
feel great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to
drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Blackfoot River through the summer are in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Blackfoot River dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. Nevada Valley is a wonderful spot to explore. Blackfoot River is a location that is quite arid usually; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture.
