The beautiful scenery of Sweet Grass / Park County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The beautiful Absaroka     Range scenery is an added bonus. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Chippy Park Campground to Boulder Falls stretch is just one of many. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Briefly about the general area: Boulder River is a location that is reasonably waterless regularly; during the month of May you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Through the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the   80's at Boulder River with overnight lows in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Boulder River temperatures plunge to the 10's.
