Montana whitewater, Boulder River

Sweet Grass Park county, Chippy Park Campground to Boulder Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III     9 miles
The scenic beauty of Sweet Grass / Park County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Montana tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers in this state are less demanding. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Chippy Park Campground to Boulder Falls stretch of Boulder River is 9 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. A good workout
and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The beauty of the Absaroka Range is a great plus for this river. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Bozeman, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either
way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
