The beautiful scenery of Sweet Grass County and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This     section of Boulder River in Sweet Grass County is 4.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Absaroka Range is a great experience. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Boulder River mostly tend to be in the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Boulder River. A fine spot to have a look at in close proximity to Boulder River is Fuller   Draw.
