Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Montana tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Helena, there's a road map further down the page with more info     on that. This is the only paddling section along Boulder River. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. The wonderful Montana scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Hay Canyon is a pleasant place to stop by close by; hiking is a popular thing to do around Boulder River; Upper Whitetail Park Trail is a perfect local trail. Boulder River is typically a rather dehydrated site; the month with most of the rain is June, and February meanwhile is the driest month. During the warmest time of the year at Boulder River temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days   of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Boulder River descend into the 0's.
