The Headwaters to Boulder River stretch of Boulder River - East in Sweet Grass County is 12 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The nature scenery of Sweet Grass County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so pack your camping stuff. When
you're paddling down a Absaroka Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Headwaters to Boulder River stretch is just one of them.
