The campgrounds here at Clark Fork are pretty good. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The Alberton Put In to Fish Creek section of Clark Fork is 7 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The beauty of the Bitterroot Range is a great plus for this river. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Not much rainfall falls here at Clark Fork; most of the rain falls through June, and the driest month of the year is July. If you yearn for a little side journey, try Sawmill Gulch. High   temperatures at Clark Fork all through the summertime months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 30's while Clark Fork night low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's.
