The average Montana whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The campgrounds here at Clark Fork are pretty good. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. The Alberton Put In to Fish Creek section of Clark Fork is 7 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Since
you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The scenic beauty of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The beauty of
the Bitterroot Range is a great plus for this river. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
