Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. This stretch of Clark Fork in Mineral County is 9 miles long and it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good places for that around here.     This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The wild scenery of the Bitterroot Range is great. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: Clark Fork is pretty dry commonly; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is July. A delightful spot to pop by in close proximity to Clark Fork is Mullan Gulch. The warmest time of the year at Clark Fork comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's.
