CLASS II-III     16 miles
  The scenic beauty of Lewis & Clark County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The Falls Creek to Highway 200 Bridge stretch of Dearborn River in Montana is 16 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance
    then no problem but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are
less demanding. The put-in location is a short drive from Helena, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you wonít get lost. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. Whitewater paddling here in the Lewis Range is a great experience. This is not the only paddling  
stretch in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.

Briefly about the general area:
The Caribou Trail offers hiking at its best, and Dearborn River is right by the West Falls Trail. And that's not all you can do here in the Lewis Range. Dearborn River gets very little precipitation. The month with most of the rain is May while February is regularly the driest month. For the period of the days of summer highs here at Dearborn River get into the 70's, and the nighttime is slightly cooler of course, usually in the 40's.
