  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. The nature scenery of Cascade/ Lewis &Clark County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Helena, if you're not familiar with the area there's
    a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you hurry you can run this section in a day
but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The Dearborn Canyon Road Bridge to Highway 287 Bridge stretch of Dearborn River in Cascade/ Lewis &Clark County is 29 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section.  
This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Dearborn Canyon Road Bridge to Highway 287 Bridge stretch is just one of them. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here.

Briefly about the general area:
Spring Gulch is right next door to Dearborn River and is a great site. High temperatures at Dearborn River through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Dearborn River dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
