The wonderful Montana scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Highway 287 Bridge to Missouri River stretch of Dearborn River is 16 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camp stove.
The put-in is not too far from Helena, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so don't forget that many runs in this
state are very easy. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. The campgrounds here at Dearborn River are pretty good.

High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Dearborn River.
