This section of Dearborn River in Lewis & Clark County is 16 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The put-in location is a short drive from Helena, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots.
There's camping available near Dearborn River. The Highway 287 Bridge to Missouri River section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The nature scenery of Lewis & Clark County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you hurry you can run this
section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here.
