  This stretch of Falls Creek in Lewis & Clark County is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V(V+) section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Helena it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The natural beauty of Montana and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. When you're paddling down a Lewis Range river like this one you always
    get great scenery along the way too. The to Dearborn section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch.
There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. You can pitch a tent or park your RV  
at a nearby campground. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the rivers in this state are not very demanding.

Briefly about the general area:
Take a hike on the West Falls Trail, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Caribou Trail. Just can't get enough of the Lewis Range. Not much rain falls here at Falls Creek. May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is February. For the period of the summer months, highs commonly are in the 70's at Falls Creek. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's.
