The Schafer Meadows to Bear Creek section of Flathead River - Middle Fork in Flathead County is 26 miles long and has been rated as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on
the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. If you have the time you can make this a two
day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Lewis Range is a great plus for this river.

there is heaps of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Lewis Range has it all. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Big River Trail, and going for a hike along the Giefer Twentyfive Mile Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity.
