The Schafer Meadows to Bear Creek section of Flathead River - Middle Fork in Flathead County is 26 miles long and has been rated as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on     the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
