The nature scenery of Flathead County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The Schafer Meadows to Bear Creek section of Flathead River - Middle Fork in Flathead County is 26 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this
area has a pretty small number of paddling places. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book
a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The beauty of the Lewis Range is a great plus for this river. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.

the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are usually in the 20's while Flathead River - Middle Fork night low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's.
