This section of Flathead River - Middle Fork in Montana is 9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The put-in location is a short drive from Kalispell, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The natural beauty of Montana and the playfulness of the water are reasons
enough to come here and paddle. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night,
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. The river winds through the Lewis Range and you get great scenery. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
