  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Kalispell, as you can see on the road map further down. The Canadian Border to Blankenship Bridge stretch of Flathead River - Middle Fork in Flathead County is 58 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II+(III) section. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive
    a short distance then no problem but if you donít have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is not the only
paddling section in this river system, there are others too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Montana are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections in this state are pretty easy. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of places for that.

Why not take a refreshing hike along the Numa Ridge Lookout Trail; hey, Gotta ski right? Whitefish is a good place to do that. The Akokala Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. Summertime highs at Flathead River - Middle Fork regularly tend to be in the 70's, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, commonly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Flathead River - Middle Fork. At Flathead River - Middle Fork you donít see much rainfall. The month with most of the snow is December while April is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
