  The scenic beauty of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Bozeman, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you hurry you can run this stretch in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system,
    the Yellowstone National Park to West Fork Gallatin section is one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Yellowstone National Park to West Fork Gallatin stretch of Gallatin River in Montana is 20 miles long and is rated by American
Whitewater as a class I-II section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.

Through the warmest time of the year here at Gallatin River, high temperatures ordinarily get into the
 
80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Gallatin River.
It is very arid here at Gallatin River frequently; during May this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
