CLASS II-III     11 miles
  This stretch of Gallatin River is 11 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. The starting location is a short drive from Bozeman, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are many good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than
    the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are less demanding. The campgrounds here at Gallatin River are pretty good. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
are great attractions for lots of people. The wonderful Montana scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle.

Briefly about the general area:
Gallatin River gets very little precipitation; the month with most of the rain is May; the driest month of the year is February.
All through the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Gallatin River. For the period of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's while Gallatin River overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's.
