This section of Grave Creek in Lincoln County is 18 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Montana and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Foundation Creek to Tobacco River stretch is the only paddling stretch
along Grave Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. Whether you're whitewater
rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Grave Creek, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Grave Creek temperatures drop to the 10's. At Grave Creek you don’t see much rain; June is the month that gets the most rain, and March is the month with the least moisture. Go for a hike on the Mount Marston National Recreation Trail.
