  The wonderful Madison County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. This stretch is short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This section of Madison
    River in Madison County is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The campgrounds here at Madison River are pretty good.
Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Hebgen Reservoir to Quake Lake section is one of them.

Madison River is pretty waterless usually; all through June this area sees the most rain; January on the other hand is the driest. If the weather is fine here at Madison River, you can go for a hike along the Kirkwood Trail.

Madison River highs are usually in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Madison River are in the 10's.
