Montana whitewater - Missouri River, unknown County Great Falls section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II(V)     9 miles   This stretch of Missouri River in Montana is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II(V) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Montana is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The starting point is not too far from Great Falls, as you can see on the road map further down. This is the only paddling stretch along Missouri River. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one,     but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The nature scenery of unknown County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling places. Briefly about the general area: Missouri River gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is mostly May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is February. Throughout the summer highs here at Missouri River reach the 80's with night lows in the 50's.
