The Yellowstone National Park to Yellowstone River section of Mulherin Creek is 9 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. The natural beauty of Park County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: Mulherin Creek gets very little rain; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here while February is generally the driest month. Near Mulherin Creek you find the Sportsman Lake Trail which is a great hiking trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Mulherin Creek. Summer night lows fall down to the 50's.
