You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. During the summer months, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Rock Creek. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are generally in the 20's; night lows at Rock Creek all through the wintertime mostly dip into the 10's. Going for a hike   on the Ranch Creek Trail is always a magnificent adventure. There are magnificent spots to explore along the Sandstone Ridge Trail; a tremendous spot close by is Cub Gulch.
