The wonderful Stillwater County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This stretch of Stillwater River is 3.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-V section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak
back to put-in a few times. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one,
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The river winds through the Absaroka Range and you get great scenery. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: For the duration of the summer at Stillwater River highs are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and overnight lows through the wintertime for Stillwater
River tend to be in the 10's. It's always nice to take a look at Woodbine Falls. Stillwater River is a location that is pretty waterless mostly; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February.
