The West Stillwater section of Stillwater River in Montana is 9 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds
nearby. The scenic beauty of Montana and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is the only paddling stretch along Stillwater River. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will have
you coming back for more.
Briefly about the general area: Stillwater River is a reasonably wet place usually with much rain; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and May on the other hand is the driest. Throughout the summertime months at Stillwater River highs are frequently in the 80's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 70's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 80's with winter lows in the 70's overnight here at Stillwater River.
