The scenic beauty of Montana and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Swan River is 1.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. This is a very short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Flathead River stretch is the only one. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. If you're a camper
you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Kalispell, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding.

All through the warm days of summer, highs usually are in the 70's at Swan River, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at Swan River dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.
