Yaak Falls to Kootenai River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV-V 6.5 miles
If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Montana you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nature scenery of Lincoln County and the water flowing gracefully down Yaak River make the trip here worthwhile. On this section you do get some distance, it's good length for a morning trip. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you
glad you came. The Yaak Falls to Kootenai River section of Yaak River is 6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
