Montana whitewater - Yellowstone River, Park County

Park county, Gardiner to Miner section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS I-III     4 miles

Yankee Jim Canyon is the only decent section of this stretch. Says Ford Smith

The beautiful scenery of Montana and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This is the only paddling stretch along Yellowstone River. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this
state than those in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and just being out on the river for
a while are great attractions for lots of people. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This stretch of Yellowstone River is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section.
