  If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Yellowstone River is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping
    in your car. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The scenic beauty of Montana and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. The
campgrounds here at Yellowstone River are pretty good. There are no other sections to paddle along Yellowstone River than the Gardiner to Miner section.

Briefly about the general area:
Summertime at Yellowstone River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Yellowstone River temperatures dip to the 10's. At Yellowstone River you don’t see much rain; May is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
