CLASS I-III     76 miles
  This section of Yellowstone River is 76 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. The average Montana whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many runs in this state are very easy. Now this is a pretty long section, so it looks like you will be camping out. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a
    while are great attractions for lots of people. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beautiful scenery of Stillwater/ Yellowstone County and the playfulness of the water have people
coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. that. There are no other stretches to paddle along Yellowstone River than the Boulder River to Clarks Fork Yellowstone River stretch.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Yellowstone River you will meet lots of folks from close by Columbus. Not much rain falls here at Yellowstone River. May is the wettest month with most rain while February is generally the driest month. For the period of the summer, highs generally are in the 80's at Yellowstone River. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Yellowstone River tend to be in the 10's.
