If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The scenic beauty of Montana and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. No matter if you're whitewater     rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Yellowstone River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Boulder River to Clarks Fork Yellowstone River stretch is the only one. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Now this is a pretty long section, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. Briefly about the general area: Yellowstone River is a location that is quite dehydrated typically; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Summertime   highs at Yellowstone River ordinarily tend to be in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's.
