This section of Yellowstone River in Montana is 76 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Montana and the water flowing gracefully down Yellowstone River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Yellowstone River. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
Briefly about the general area: At Yellowstone River throughout the summer months highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Yellowstone River are in the 10's. Around Yellowstone River you don’t get a lot of rainfall; during the month of May you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is February.
