Nevada whitewater - Carson River - East Fork, Northern Sierra Nevada, Alpine County Alpine county, Hangman's Bridge to Gardnerville section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II     20 miles   This stretch of Carson River - East Fork in Alpine County is 20 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. If you're coming from Gardnerville Ranchos it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back     for more. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is wonderful. The nature scenery of Alpine County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area:   Throughout the long summer days here at Carson River - East Fork, high temperatures regularly reach the 70's, and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, regularly in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and night lows at Carson River - East Fork during the wintertime commonly drop into the 10's. Carson River - East Fork is a wet spot that gets lots of precipitation; January is the month that gets the most snow; July on the other hand is the driest.
