The wonderful Washoe County scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Nevada tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and a     chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The starting location is a short drive from Reno-Sparks, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater paddling here in the Northern Sierra Nevada is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. The Verdi to Mayberry Park stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Briefly about the general area: Blue Ravine is a delightful place to explore. High temperatures at Truckee River through the days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter   this place gets highs in the 40's; through the dark hours in the winter at Truckee River temperatures drop to the 20's. Truckee River gets very little rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain while August is mostly the driest month.
