This section of Ammonoosuc River is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The river winds through the White Mountains and you get great scenery. The campgrounds here at Ammonoosuc River are pretty good. The starting location is a reasonable
drive from Berlin, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are many good hotels to choose from, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. No matter if you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The Bretton Woods to Twin Mountain stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: This is such a fun river. There is a brilliant hiking trail right next door to Ammonoosuc River called the Hale Brook Trail It's always great to check out Lower Falls. Summertime highs at Ammonoosuc River regularly tend to be in the 70's; all through
summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's while Ammonoosuc River nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 0's. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Ammonoosuc River; August is the wettest
month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. And that's not everything you can do here in the White Mountains. Bretton Woods is a delightful local ski area; close by you locate the Mount Rosebrook Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail.
