If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The beautiful scenery of New Hampshire and the water flowing gracefully down Ammonoosuc River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There's camping available near Ammonoosuc River. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful. No matter if you're
whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch of Ammonoosuc River
in New Hampshire is 2.9 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Twin Mountain to Pierce bridge stretch is just one of many. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
Briefly about the general area: There is a good hiking trail in close proximity to Ammonoosuc River called the Nubble Mountain Trail, and nearby you locate
the Gale River Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. So much cool stuff in the White Mountains, just phenomenal. High temperatures at Ammonoosuc River during the long summer days are in the 70's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 50's. The winter comes with highs
in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Ammonoosuc River are in the-10's. A common amount of rain falls here at Ammonoosuc River; August is when you get the most rain here, and February is the month with the least moisture.
