Bragg's Bay to Pontook section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-II 17 miles
The Bragg's Bay to Pontook section of Androscoggin River in New Hampshire is 17 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The average New Hampshire whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. The wonderful Coos County scenery and the playfulness of the water beats anything.
If you're coming from Berlin it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beauty of the White Mountains is a great plus for this river. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby.
There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
