The scenic beauty of New Hampshire and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. This section of Atlantic Ocean is 1 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I(V) section. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other spots. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state
you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Atlantic Ocean doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Jenness Beach stretch is the only one.
Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. This is an extremely short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Atlantic Ocean mostly tend to be in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Atlantic Ocean are in the 10's. Atlantic Ocean is a rather wet place commonly with lots of precipitation;
most of the rain falls through November, and January is the month with the least moisture. This is a great river. Rye Ledge is a good place to discover, and you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Jenress Beach. Nothing beats kicking back at Bass Beach, and Lockes Neck is very near and is a nice spot to have a look at.
