The Bennett Corner to Whittier section of Bearcamp River in New Hampshire is 3.5 miles long and is a class II-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Laconia, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wonderful Carroll County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down
Bearcamp River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure
to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in New Hampshire tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. There are no other stretches to paddle along Bearcamp River than the Bennett Corner to Whittier stretch. This section is quite short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The beautiful White Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
Briefly about the general area: Take a hike on the Old Locke Road
Path, and Lunt Ledge is an interesting thing to see since you're here. For the period of the summertime months at Bearcamp River temperatures are commonly in the 70's; the nighttime is a little chillier of course, generally in the 50's. High temperatures throughout the winter are
normally in the 20's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Bearcamp River temperatures dip to the 0's. Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more cool things to do here in the White Mountains. Hiking along the Bickford Trail is magnificent fun. Lots
of precipitation falls at Bearcamp River; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is January.
