The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The natural beauty of Cheshire County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. map further down the page with more info on that. The Alstead to Drewsville stretch of Cold River in Cheshire County is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there
are lots of good spots for that around here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is a bit of a short stretch so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: At Cold River throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. The wintertime brings
highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Cold River descend into the 0's. Cold River mostly gets a great deal of rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and February on the other hand is the driest. Glovers Ledge is an interesting thing to catch a sight of since you're here at Cold River.
