The wonderful Cheshire County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. If you're coming from Keene it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The Alstead to Drewsville section of Cold River in New Hampshire is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Alstead to Drewsville section
is one of them. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring snacks.
