CLASS V 1.4 miles
The Route 25 to Bearcamp River stretch of Cold Brook is 1.4 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Carrol County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to
drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. If you're coming from Laconia it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down
the page so you won’t get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. There are no other stretches to paddle along Cold Brook than the Route 25 to Bearcamp River stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is a very short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience.
