The Jaffrey to Peterborough section of Contoocook River is 5 miles long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Contoocook River ordinarily tend to be in the 80's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Contoocook River.
