The nature scenery of Hillsborough County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Contoocook River are pretty good. This is a short paddling stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. This section of Contoocook River is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Henniker stretch is just one of them. Briefly about the general area: The slopes of Pats Peak are so inviting nobody can resist. Through the months of summer at Contoocook River temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's, and the nighttime is a tad chillier of course, regularly in the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's while Contoocook River night low temperatures through the winter are in the 10's.
