The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Contoocook River in Hillsborough County is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this     is an area with plenty of places for that. The put-in location is a short drive from Concord, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Henniker section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. No shortage of good hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Briefly about the general area: Contoocook River is a good place of common precipitation; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain while January is generally the driest month. High temperatures   at Contoocook River all through the months of summer are in the 70's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Contoocook River are in the 10's. Very pretty scenery and perfect skiing is what you get at Pats Peak.
