There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Ellis River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 16 to Jackson Golf Course stretch is the only one. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. The White Mountains scenery is wonderful.     This stretch of Ellis River in Carroll County is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The wonderful Carroll County scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The campgrounds here at Ellis River are pretty good. Briefly about the general area: What would winter be without some skiing at Black Mountain, and the Langlaup Trail offers hiking at its best. Ellis River is a wet place that gets lots of precipitation; during November this area sees the most snow, and the driest of the months is July. All through the months of summer, highs frequently are in the 50's at Ellis River.   All through the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 10's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Ellis River. Having a great time in the White Mountains is easy.
