If you're coming from Concord it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch of Fowler River is 5.9 miles long and has been rated as a class V section by American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whitewater paddling here in the White Mountains is a great experience. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in New Hampshire is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. There are no other stretches
to paddle along Fowler River than the Alexandria stretch. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places.
The natural beauty of Grafton County and the water flowing gracefully down Fowler River attract people from near and far. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip.
Briefly about the general area: If you're addicted to cool geologic traits, try Simmons Ledges, and Fowler River is right by the Melton Falls Trail. For the duration of the
summer months here at Fowler River, high temperatures generally reach the 80's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Fowler River fall into the 0's. But
wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the White Mountains. Hiking along the Manning Trail is tremendous fun. An average amount of rain falls at Fowler River; the month with most of the rain is May, and January is the month with the least moisture.
