CLASS II-IV 3 miles
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Berlin, as you can see on the road map further down. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The wonderful New Hampshire scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. This stretch of Gale River is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near
the river where you can camp. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling stretch along Gale River. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from
far and near. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This stretch is short so better bring some good walking shoes.
